Up coming events

24.11.2015

Dear Parents/Caregivers,

If your child has been in our Junior Kapa Haka this year then they have two more performances. One at the School Gala (4th December) and the other at the Te Hapua Halswell Centre opening. Our Senior Kapa Haka and Senior Choir will also perform.
We hope that you can make it to this performance. We will only be doing a couple of songs as we have to share the time slot with the senior Kapa Haka. It is a great for our community to see the awesome things we do at Oaklands.

Details:
  • Saturday 5th December (the day after the gala)
  • 341 Halswell Road
  • We will meet there at 1pm.
  • Students are to wear their school uniform
  • 1.15pm Kapahaka - Senior then Junior
  • 1.30pm Choir

Can you please reply to me at geoff.wallis@oaklands.school.nz to confirm if your child is able to attend this event.

Please remind your children that it is important that they come to practices every Friday at lunchtime. This provides consistency and ensures we all know the words and the appropriate actions.

Thanks for your support and I look forward to seeing you there.

Today the Kākano Kapa Haka group went to visit Edukids Halswell. We sang them some of our favourite waiata. It was a privilege to go and help them celebrate Matariki.

Performing on the school radio

12.6.2015
At Oaklands we have a school radio that broadcasts into the community. Today we were the first group to perform live on air at lunch time.

It was an amazing opportunity and we loved it. We are looking forward to being able to perform again.

If you want to tune in the station is 107.2 FM
